Much to my disappointment I can't swim 3 miles in one go. I've spoken to my chiropractor who laughed in my face and I've attempted it unsuccessfully! So I've changed the challenge to swimming 30,000 metres by the end of the summer holiday. This is still a major challenge as it's the equivalent of 30km or 1200 lengths of my local pool.
So in some ways it has turned into a much more dedicated challenge as I was up with the larks Sunday morning after a dinner party Saturday night to try and get as many metres in as I can.
I'm mapping my progress with the speedo swimfit app so will keep you updated once I have finished!!

I have experienced some great things in my life so this is the opposite of a bucket list. I want to give something back so I am attempting to complete 30 charity challenges before I'm 30. I would love you to suggest a challenge or support someone else's by donating on my justgiving page.

Completed Challenge 10# - Epic Walk
When I first got this challenge I envisaged pouring rain, muddy boots and being battered by the winds on the moors. In this little Jane Eyre fantasy it never once crossed my mind that we would walk 22 miles on one of the hottest days of the past 7 years.
There was no possibility we would postpone, we had struggled to find a weekend and after all this was supposed to be a challenge. When Scarlett picked me up at 7.10am and it was already comfortable tshirt weather I knew it would be.
But thankfully both Scarlett (who set the challenge) and I are good in the heat and Jen who provided extra company, though not great in the heat, is an exercise machine. She joined us for some of the walk and ran back totaling a massive 26 miles!
With good friends and some putting the world to rights chats it was brilliant fun. The last 2 miles, when Scarlett's blisters had popped and it was by then 28 degrees and 7 hours after we started, were hardcore. But people stopped us to chat and asked about Sense so it felt wonderful to raise awareness as well as cash.
Thanks everyone for their support either financial or physical. If I ever say I'm too hot to walk along the beach for a lolly give me a kick!

Completed Challenge 6# - Life Drawing
Sitting outside the venue this morning watching seasoned artists dragging in their easels I was seriously tempted to do a runner. But my lovely friend Jen arrived who always puts people at ease and I figured if nothing else it would be a laugh. Jen has wanted to do life drawing for ages so challenging me was the push she needed. As the instrutor referred to her drawing as "luminous" at the end I think she has a real chance for keeping going.
As for me...you can judge for yourselves! I have stated from the beginning I'm not skilled at drawing and somewhat of a prude so this was going to be a tough one. However you do ease into it and the instructor really helped me by getting me to draw the different shapes and telling me not to think at all of it as a body. I only blushed at maybe 2 things he said which for me is a real achievement.
I would like to thank Jen for putting me out of my comfort zone. This is something I never would have done if it wasn't for the challenges and I hope will inspire others to try new things!

Money so far!
As it is half term I am in the throws of working towards various challenges keeping me busy and out of trouble. I am massively spurred on by recent donations and we have currently raised a massive £1199.50. This is 39% of the way towards my target and was a real boost as I hit 29 and have exactly a year to go. Someone amazingly donated £500 which totally blew me away.
To give you an indication of the difference this could make we could use:
£500 – to pay for a child to undergo a specialised educational development assessment to establish what their learning abilities are.
£250 – to kit out a home with sensory 'trails' enabling the deafblind residents to identify specific rooms, stairs etc, enabling them to live in a safe, secure environment.
£100 – to help pay for 2 deafblind children's vital first assessment.
£150 – to buy 6 interactive light tubes to help stimulate 6 deafblind children's remaining sight.
£90 – to pay for 6 tactile books for use at a Sense family centre to develop a child's sense of sight and touch.
£90 – to pay for 12 deafblind children to experience sailing and feel the wind on their face on their Sense holiday.
£65 – to buy 13 sets of musical bells to help stimulate even the tiniest amount of a deafblind child's hearing in music therapy.
Thank you to everyone who is supporting me in anyway - please keep it coming! http://www.justgiving.com/30before30sense
